Accreditation & scope

Accreditation is scope-specific. This page says exactly what ours covers, so you do not have to ask us for it during a supplier audit.

Certificate and scope

Both are public. Download them rather than asking us for them.

Certificate

ISO/IEC 17025:2017

Certificate of Accreditation issued by the Standards Council of Canada: ISO/IEC 17025:2017, SCC file 151170

Accredited by the Standards Council of Canada for testing laboratories. The certificate carries our SCC file number, the accredited location, the initial accreditation date and the date it was issued. It does not carry an expiry date: it refers you to the scope of accreditation for that.

Scope

Scope of accreditation

The definitive list of methods and matrices we are accredited for. This is the document auditors ask for, and the one most laboratories make you request by email.

What accreditation does and does not mean

What it covers

That the methods inside our scope have been assessed by a third party for technical competence, that results are traceable, that staff are qualified for the work, and that the quality system is audited on a cycle rather than self-declared.

What it does not cover

Accreditation is not blanket approval of everything a laboratory does. Tests outside the scope are still run to method and still reported, but they are not covered by the accreditation — and we mark them that way on the menu rather than letting the badge imply otherwise.

Every test on the test menu carries a scope marker, so you can tell at a glance which results are accredited before you order.

We are Lipid Labs, a division of CanAlt Health Laboratories Inc. Reports and certificates issued previously carry our former name, Lipid Analytical Laboratories Inc. It is the same laboratory, at the same address, under the same Standards Council of Canada accreditation, and the SCC file number is unchanged.

Organisations we work with

AOCS

American Oil Chemists’ Society

Member. The AOCS proficiency programme underpins comparability between laboratories — something we take part in, not a standing AOCS confers.

GOED

Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s

Member. The laboratory holds the Special Achievement Program (SAP) Award for the 2026-2027 term, which runs to 30 June 2027; by the laboratory’s own record it has been held twice, for 2024-2025 and 2026-2027. The GOED monograph sets the composition and oxidation limits most serious omega-3 buyers work to — and is the basis of our flagship package.

GOED Special Achievement Program certificate for the 2026-2027 term, issued 1 July 2026, valid to 30 June 2027
The certificate for the 2026-2027 term. Issued to the laboratory under its former name.
