Discuss a custom analytical project
Not every lipid question fits a test menu. If you need a matrix we do not list, a method adapted to your product, or an answer nobody has measured yet, tell us what you need to find out. A Lipid Labs chemist will reply about whether and how we can do it, and quote it before anything is booked.
Beyond the menu
Start with the question
Custom method development and non-routine matrices are a significant part of what we do. You do not need a method name to ask. Describe the sample and what the result has to show; the method comes after.
Enquiry
Tell us what you need to find out, with the form below or by telephone.
Conversation
A chemist reads it and talks it through with you: the sample, the question, and what a method would have to do to answer it.
Scope and quote
If we can do the work, you receive a written scope and a quote. Nothing is booked until you agree it.
Analysis
You send the samples and the work is carried out as agreed.
Report
The certificate identifies the method and the result. Only results within our accredited scope carry the accreditation mark.
What is accredited, and what is not
Our ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation through the Standards Council of Canada is scope-specific rather than blanket. Only the determinations on our SCC scope of accreditation are accredited: Fatty Acid Profile (FAME), EPA / DHA quantitation, Trans fatty acids, Peroxide Value, p-Anisidine Value, Acid Value (free fatty acids), Capsule weight and Sample weighing.
Custom and adapted methods fall outside that scope, and are reported as such: their results do not carry the accreditation mark. On the certificate, results within our accredited scope carry the accreditation mark, and every result names the method it was run to.
Sent to the laboratory
A chemist will read it and reply to the address you gave. Nothing is booked until you have agreed a scope and a quote.
What helps us answer quickly
The matrix. What the sample is, and anything unusual about it.
The number of samples. Even a rough figure.
The question or specification. What the result has to show, or the limit it has to be judged against.
Your timeline. When the answer is needed, and what depends on it.
Any reference method. A published or customer method you have been asked to follow, if there is one.
